Picture yourself in a beautiful small hotel in the picturesque hillside village of Bonnieux, preparing for your cooking session with Pierre, a celebrated local chef. His gleaming hotel kitchen overlooks vineyards with views of the neighboring hill town of Lacoste, topped by the castle ruins of the Marquis de Sade.
This storybook experience can be yours during a one-week immersion in French culture, cuisine and language available to a very few people, Together we will prepare many wonderful meals in Chef Pierre's amazing kitchen.
Three different one week tours can be offered, each with a different focus; hiking, language or culinary.
Our 2020 and 2021 all inclusive travel packages* are now being planned. Dates in September or October can be chosen to suit traveler desires. September and early October are an ideal time to visit Provence. The summer crowds are mostly gone, and the weather is normally sunny and pleasant with the heat of summer just a memory.
Bonnieux is the gateway to the Luberon, a French National Park. Many other charming hill towns are within a 30 minute drive. The Luberon was beautifully portrayed on the big screen in the 2006 release "A Good Year" starring Russell Crowe. Much of the movie was filmed around the village of Bonnieux and in the nearby Chateau La Canorgue. Their friendly tasting room is open to the public and many wonderful wines produced at the chateau can be purchased there.
Bonnieux is very close to many wine caves, and wine tasting in Provence is a delightful and unique experience. We will pair local wines with our evening meals to help guests discover what great French wine is all about. Some of these wines are not available outside France and a few are only available locally.
Come with us while we visit the local market stalls, butcher and bread-maker each day to gather the ingredients for a great French meal prepared under the guidance of Chef Pierre and Chef Dawn. Become part of village life and get to know some of Bonnieux's 1,400 residents. Enjoy the cafes and restaurants, shops and artist galleries. Shop the Bonnieux Friday morning market, then enjoy lunch that day in the hotel garden overlooking the pool. Perhaps the weather will allow a swim!
